Tommy Larkin
Traditional (Add'l lyrics by B. Thomas Larkin)

A memorial was held on March 18, 2013 in Houston, Texas for our dear friend, J.P. Gallagher.  J.P. passed far too soon but will be remembered for his wonderful spirit and charity.   J.P. founded and raised over $ 3 million for the Gastric Cancer Foundation.  Below are a few pictures of the memorial service.  J.P. would be pleased to see he was able to bring so many old friends together.  Inspired by J.P. and the event, I made a recording of the traditional song Parting Glass with an additional verse for J.P.  God Rest His Soul.

Friends of J.P. Gallager remember and cherish the time we spent with him.

Of all the money that e'er I spent
I've spent it in good company
And all the harm that ever I done
Alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now, I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all

Oh, all the comrades that e'er I had
They're sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
They'd wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be with you all

Oh J.P. Gallagher, he is gone
Gone but far too young I fear
And he leaves a wife and children dear
God bless them each and every one
His shining grin and generous ways
He was a son of Ireland dear
So lift your glass and quietly sing
Goodbye J.P., Gonzaga’s pride.
